HOLLEY R80159 MARINE FOUR BARREL VACUUM SECONDARY CARB’ IN FOR A REBUILD

This Holley R80159 came in for a rebuild, Marine use is hard use, the marine environment is harsh. Salt in the air and water in the fuel along with other stuff that seems attracted to the fuel tank, it seems it doesn’t matter how good the fuel filters are rubbish still gets through to upset your carburettor.

This Holley has been repaired a few times and had a new float bowl fitted recently, unfortunately who ever fitted it didn’t fit a new rubber valve for the accelerator pump! The pump has not been working for some time, the accelerator pump needle was stuck in place and was a difficult one to remove, we got it out in the end and cleaned the whole carburettor in a specialist carb’ cleaning fluid to ensure all the air and fuel ways were clean, always finished off with a blast of air from the air line through all of the orifices.

All new gaskets, needles and seats etc fitted and the exterior finished off with a coat of Marine petrol proof black paint.

A new vacuum secondary diaphragm was fitted,as the one fitted was the incorrect length.

One float bowl screw thread was pulled out of the carb’ body so that was drilled and a heli-coil fitted. The Holley screws are a thread all of their own.
